Description
Developed in partnership by the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS), including the PA Section, the Society for Vascular Nursing (SVN), and the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA), this interprofessional Wound Care Curriculum is designed to meet the unique needs of vascular care teams. The curriculum includes pre-and post tests for knowledge assessment, 20+ short on-demand videos, and hands-on workshops held in conjunction with the Vascular Annual Meeting (VAM) 2025, 2026, and 2027.

The American Board of Surgery (ABS) recently made changes to its CME processes, which impact the way that Diplomates interact with the Board, upload CME credits, and meet Certification requirements. SVS is committed to complying with the new rules and making your ability to claim credit as seamless as possible; however, we are still in the process of aligning our systems to meet these new requirements.

Topics include:

  2. Differentiating lower extremity ulcer etiology 
  3. Management of the Diabetic Foot Ulcer 
  4. Algorithm of Managing Venous Leg Ulcers 
  5. Phlebolymphedema 
  6. Atypicals - is this Vasculitis, Pyoderma gangrenosum, melanoma 
  7. Wound Assessment 

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Describe pathophysiology of wound type 
  2. Describe current vascular wound guidelines and management of 
  3. complex wounds. 
  4. Discuss the essential components of managing Wound Ulcers 
  5. Assessing new knowledge on Phlebolymphedema 
  6. Comparing atypical/non typical ulcers

Chapter 2 – Diagnostic and Therapeutic Tools in Wound Care
