Type II Endoleak Prevention and Management

Introducing our new webinar series, with expert faculty and attendees interacting in small groups that encourage shared learning and an intimate feel. These one-hour webinars will focus on topics that are relevant and timely to vascular surgeons in practice.

Type II Endoleak Prevention and Management

Vascular surgeons are often faced with Type II endoleaks in patients having undergone endovascular aneurysm repair, and the optimal treatment and prevention of this common problem is uncertain. Different vascular surgeons manage Type II endoleaks differently. Furthermore, some of these common endoleaks might be prevented by embolization or other measures at the time of initial aneurysm repair, but indications to prophylactically treat lumbar vessels or the inferior mesenteric artery are uncertain.

Target Audience

Vascular surgeons in vascular practice.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify indications for treatment of type II endoleaks.
  • Understand technical approaches to treatment of type II endoleaks.
  • Describe approaches to prevention of type II endoleaks.
  • Identify indications for conversion to open aneurysm repair (graft explant) for recalcitrant type II endoleak.
