Clinical Vignettes Disclaimer
While these cases we present are fairly well described, they are not intended to be templates or other endorsements of all the documentation necessary in an operative or procedure note, they are merely intended for tonight’s purposes to describe the intervention as it relates to the new CPT codes that have just been discussed.

There are several additional resources including coding courses sponsored by many organizations including the professional societies here tonight. I would encourage you to take advantage of those, as they would be perhaps the best venue to cover in extensive breadth and depth the nuances of coding and reimbursement for these and other procedures.

And finally, to stay focused on the new coding conventions, we have purposely stayed away from including modifiers in the discussions tonight. For example, as I’m sure many of you know when radiology supervision and interpretation codes are reported in a facility setting, they are appended with a modifier 26 to report the professional component only. So for the purposes of tonight’s discussion, please assume that these are being performed in a nonfacility setting, such as an office-based laboratory.
